ISO 7041

ISO 7041

Nut: hex · Products: 12

ISO 7041 - Prevailing torque hexagon high nuts (with non-metallic insert), product grades A and B

Prevailing torque hexagon high nuts with a non-metallic insert, the high form of the nylon insert lock nut: ISO 7040 with the high ISO 4033 body instead of the regular one. Product grade A for threads up to and including M16 and product grade B above. The metal body is the high ISO 4033 nut (style 2): for a given diameter the hexagon is identical, and a polyamide ring held in a crimped collar on top grips the bolt thread and resists loosening. The taller body gives more thread engagement and stripping resistance than the regular ISO 7040 nut, while the room for the insert above the body is the same as in the regular and thin nuts of the same diameter. The insert limits the service temperature. Specifies metric coarse pitch threads in preferred and non-preferred sizes.

ISO 8673 - Hexagon regular nuts (style 1) with metric fine pitch thread, product grades A and B

Hexagon regular nuts, style 1, with metric fine pitch thread: the ISO 4032 nut with the same hexagon and height, only the thread differs. Product grade A for threads up to and including M16 and product grade B above. Because the reduced thread height raises the risk of stripping, high nuts (style 2) to ISO 8674 are preferred. Covers M8 to M64 and includes both the preferred threads and the non-preferred threads.

ISO 8674 - Hexagon high nuts (style 2) with metric fine pitch thread, product grades A and B

Hexagon high nuts, style 2, with metric fine pitch thread: the ISO 4033 nut with the same hexagon and height, only the thread differs. Product grade A for threads up to and including M16 and product grade B above. The extra height over the regular ISO 8673 nut gives more thread engagement and better stripping resistance, which is why style 2 is preferred for fine pitch threads. Covers M8 to M39 and includes both the preferred threads and the non-preferred threads.

ISO 8675 - Hexagon thin nuts (style 0) with metric fine pitch thread, product grades A and B

Hexagon thin nuts, style 0, with metric fine pitch thread: the ISO 4035 nut with the same hexagon and reduced height, only the thread pitch differs. Product grade A for threads up to and including M16 and product grade B above. Covers M8 to M64, including preferred and non-preferred threads. Thin nuts have reduced loadability and are used as jam nuts together with a regular or high nut.

JIS B 1181 Small Hex - Small hexagon nuts (Annex JA), types 1, 2 and 3

Small hexagon nuts of JIS B 1181:2014, Annex JA, the Japanese nuts that do not follow ISO: narrower across flats and lower than ISO 4032 nuts of the same thread. The small series is narrower across flats than the regular nuts of the same thread: 12 mm for M8, 14 mm for M10 and 17 mm for M12, where ISO 4032 has 13, 16 and 18 mm. The heights are those of the regular annex nuts and lower than ISO 4032: about 0.8d for types 1 and 2 and about 0.6d for the thin type 3. Type 1 is chamfered at 30 degrees on the top face only and bears on its flat face, and types 2 and 3 are chamfered on both faces. The width across corners is the theoretical value the standard gives. Both finish grades share these nominal dimensions; thread tolerance is 6H unless specified, and steel nuts of types 1 and 2 are made in strength classes 4T to 8T. The annex reflects production and use in Japan, but it is to be withdrawn and new designs should use ISO-type nuts. Covers M8 to M39 with metric coarse and fine pitch threads; M14, M18, M22, M27, M33 and M39 are second choice.
