ISO 4014 - Hexagon head bolts

Hexagon head bolts with a full-diameter plain shank under the head, metric coarse pitch thread and product grades A and B; the fully threaded version is ISO 4017. The bolt is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head and keeps a plain shank under it, so the thread stops short of the head and the joint is clamped on unthreaded metal. A size is the pair d x l: the thread diameter fixes the width across flats s, the width across corners e, the head height k and the bearing face dw, while the length decides the thread length b - 2d + 6 mm up to 125 mm, 2d + 12 mm up to 200 mm and 2d + 25 mm above it - and the product grade, which is the close grade A up to M24 and 150 mm and the medium grade B beyond either. Covers threads M1,6 to M64 with nominal lengths 12 to 500 mm. Its German predecessor DIN 931 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 4014, but keeps wider spanner sizes on M10, M12 and M14; the fully threaded counterpart is ISO 4017 and the grade C version is ISO 4016.

ISO 4015 - Hexagon head bolts with reduced shank - Product grade B

Hexagon head bolts with a reduced shank of about the pitch diameter instead of the plain shank of thread diameter of ISO 4014, metric coarse pitch thread, product grade B. The bolt is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head; its thread is rolled on the thinner blank, so it keeps the thread diameter d over the thread length b, while under the head the shank stays at ds, about the pitch diameter, and rises to d over the thread run-out x of about 2,5P. Rolling the thread without turning the shank down saves material, and the thinner shank makes the bolt a little more elastic than a bolt with a full shank. A size is the pair d x l: the thread diameter fixes the width across flats s, the width across corners e, the head height k, the bearing face dw and the shank diameter ds, while the length decides the thread length b - 2d + 6 mm up to 125 mm and 2d + 12 mm above it. The head keeps the nominal width across flats s and head height k of ISO 4014, with the minimum width across corners e and bearing face dw of product grade B; the manufacturer may raise ds to d over at most 0,5d under the head. Covers threads M3 to M20 with nominal lengths 20 to 150 mm, in steel property classes 5.8, 6.8 and 8.8 and in stainless steel A2-50 and A2-70. The partially threaded bolt with a full shank is ISO 4014.

ISO 4016 - Hexagon head bolts - Product grade C

Hexagon head bolts with a plain shank, metric coarse pitch thread, product grade C instead of the grades A and B of ISO 4014, so with wider tolerances. The bolt is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head and keeps a plain shank under it, so the thread stops short of the head and the joint is clamped on unthreaded metal. Grade C is the coarse tolerance grade of the hexagon head bolt: the head keeps the nominal width across flats s and head height k of ISO 4014, but its tolerances are wider and its minimum width across corners e and bearing face dw are smaller than in grade A, the plain shank may be larger or smaller than the thread diameter, the thread has tolerance 8g, and the bolts are made in property classes 4.6 and 4.8 up to M39. A size is the pair d x l: the thread diameter fixes the head, while the length decides the thread length b - 2d + 6 mm up to 125 mm, 2d + 12 mm up to 200 mm and 2d + 25 mm above it. Covers threads M5 to M64 with nominal lengths 25 to 500 mm. Its German predecessor DIN 601 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 4016; the fully threaded counterpart is ISO 4018 and the product grade A and B version is ISO 4014.

ISO 4017 - Hexagon head screws

Hexagon head screws threaded up to the head, with metric coarse pitch thread and product grades A and B; the version with a plain shank is the bolt ISO 4014. The screw is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head and is threaded over its whole length, so one size fits any grip and it can be driven into a tapped hole to any depth. The head is the head of ISO 4014 value for value: the thread diameter fixes the width across flats s, the width across corners e, the head height k and the bearing face dw. The thread reaches the head but for the run-out under it, which the standard limits to a max = 3P, so the guaranteed thread length is l - 3P. The length decides the product grade, which is the close grade A up to M24 and 150 mm and the medium grade B beyond either. The range of standard lengths follows a rule instead of a table: from 2d rounded to the nearest nominal length, up to ten diameters and never above 200 mm - a longer joint takes the partially threaded bolt of ISO 4014. Covers threads M1,6 to M64 with nominal lengths 3 to 200 mm. Its German predecessor DIN 933 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 4017, but keeps wider spanner sizes on M10, M12 and M14; the partially threaded counterpart is ISO 4014, the grade C version is ISO 4018 and the fine pitch one is ISO 8676.

ISO 4018 - Hexagon head screws - Product grade C

Hexagon head screws threaded up to the head, metric coarse pitch thread, product grade C instead of the grades A and B of ISO 4017, so with wider tolerances. The screw is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head and is threaded over its whole length, so one size fits any grip and it can be driven into a tapped hole to any depth. The head is the head of ISO 4016 value for value: it keeps the nominal width across flats s and head height k of ISO 4017, but its tolerances are wider and its minimum width across corners e and bearing face dw are smaller than in grade A; the thread has tolerance 8g, and the screws are made in property classes 4.6 and 4.8 up to M39. The thread reaches the head but for the run-out under it, which the standard limits to a max = 3P, so the guaranteed thread length is l - 3P. The range of standard lengths follows a rule instead of a table: from 2d rounded to the nearest nominal length, 120 mm for M64, up to ten diameters and never above 200 mm - a longer joint takes the partially threaded bolt of ISO 4016. Covers threads M5 to M64 with nominal lengths 10 to 200 mm. Its German predecessor DIN 558 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 4018; the partially threaded counterpart is ISO 4016 and the product grade A and B version is ISO 4017.

ISO 8676 - Hexagon head screws with metric fine pitch thread

Hexagon head screws with a metric fine pitch thread instead of the coarse thread of ISO 4017, fully threaded, product grades A and B. The screw is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head and is threaded over its whole length, so one size fits any grip and it can be driven into a tapped hole to any depth. A size is the thread diameter, the pitch and the length, as in ISO 8676 - M20 x 1,5 x 80 - 8.8: M10 is made with pitches 1 and 1,25, M12 with 1,25 and 1,5, and M18, M20 and M22 with 1,5 and 2, each pair sharing the head. The head is the head of ISO 8765 value for value: the thread diameter fixes the width across flats s, the width across corners e, the head height k and the bearing face dw. The thread reaches the head but for the run-out under it, which the standard limits to a max = 3P, so the guaranteed thread length is l - 3P. The length decides the product grade, which is the close grade A up to M24 and 150 mm and the medium grade B beyond either. The range of standard lengths follows a rule instead of a table: from 2d rounded to the nearest nominal length, 120 mm for M64, up to ten diameters and never above 200 mm - a longer joint takes the partially threaded bolt of ISO 8765. Covers threads M8 x 1 to M64 x 4 with nominal lengths 16 to 200 mm, in property classes 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 up to M39 and in stainless steel. Its German predecessor DIN 961 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 8676, which changed the widths across flats of M10, M12, M14 and M22; the partially threaded counterpart is ISO 8765 and the coarse thread version is ISO 4017.

ISO 8765 - Hexagon head bolts with metric fine pitch thread

Hexagon head bolts with a metric fine pitch thread instead of the coarse thread of ISO 4014, with a plain shank under the head, product grades A and B. The bolt is turned by a spanner on a hexagon head, and the thread stops short of the head, so the joint is clamped on unthreaded metal. For a given diameter a fine thread has a larger core and a smaller lead than a coarse one, so the bolt carries a little more load, loosens less under vibration and can be adjusted finely. A size is the thread diameter, the pitch and the length, as in ISO 8765 - M20 x 1,5 x 80 - 8.8: M10 is made with pitches 1 and 1,25, M12 with 1,25 and 1,5, and M18, M20 and M22 with 1,5 and 2, each pair sharing the head. The thread diameter fixes the width across flats s, the width across corners e, the head height k and the bearing face dw, value for value as on the coarse thread bolt, while the length decides the thread length b - 2d + 6 mm up to 125 mm, 2d + 12 mm up to 200 mm and 2d + 25 mm above it - and the product grade, which is the close grade A up to M24 and 150 mm and the medium grade B beyond either. Covers threads M8 x 1 to M64 x 4 with nominal lengths 40 to 500 mm, in property classes 8.8, 10.9 and 12.9 up to M39 and in stainless steel. Its German predecessor DIN 960 was replaced by DIN EN ISO 8765; the fully threaded counterpart is ISO 8676 and the coarse thread version is ISO 4014.
