ISO 7045
ISO 7045 - Pan head screws with type H or type Z cross recess - Product grade A
Pan head screws with a type H (Phillips) or type Z (Pozidriv) cross recess, metric coarse pitch thread, product grade A, the ISO standard that replaced DIN 7985; unlike the hexagon socket button head screw of ISO 7380-1, the screw is turned by a screwdriver, and its head is a short cylinder with a domed top rather than a low dome. A size is the thread and the length d x l, and the recess type completes the designation, as in Pan head screw ISO 7045 - M5 x 20 - 4.8 - Z: the H and the Z screw of one size share the head and the recess number, 0 to 4, which is the size of the screwdriver, but each recess has its own reference diameter m and its own gauge penetration depth. The thread diameter fixes the head diameter dk, the head height k and the approximate radius rf of the domed top. Screws up to 25 mm long on M1,6 to M3 and up to 40 mm long on M3,5 to M10 are threaded up to the head; longer ones have a thread length b of at least 25 mm or 38 mm. The shank is approximately the pitch diameter of the thread or the full thread diameter. Steel screws are made to property class 4.8, stainless steel ones to A2-50 and A2-70, non-ferrous ones to ISO 8839; the thread tolerance is 6g. Covers threads M1,6 to M10, M3,5 to be avoided if possible, with nominal lengths 3 to 60 mm.
