ISO 8733 - Parallel pins with internal thread, of unhardened steel and austenitic stainless steel

Unhardened parallel pins with internal thread, without the types of the hardened ISO 8735. A screw or a puller in the tapped hole of one end pulls the pin out. The pin is a cylinder toleranced m6 with a surface finish of Ra 0,8 micrometres, a 15 degree lead-in chamfer at the plain end and a chamfer at the threaded end. The tapped hole has a 6H metric coarse thread with a counterbore and a 120 degree countersink at its mouth, and a slight flat or small groove for air escape is allowed at the manufacturer's discretion. The standard has no types: steel St, 125 HV30 to 245 HV30, and austenitic stainless steel A1 to ISO 3506-1, 210 HV30 to 280 HV30, share one dimension table. Covers nominal diameters from 6 to 50 mm with threads M4 to M24 and lengths from 16 to 200 mm.

ISO 8735 - Parallel pins with internal thread, of hardened steel and martensitic stainless steel

Hardened parallel pins with internal thread, known as extractable or tapped dowel pins: a dowel pin with a tapped hole in one end, hardened unlike ISO 8733. A screw or a pin extractor in the tapped hole of one end pulls the pin out. The pin is a ground cylinder toleranced m6 with a surface finish of Ra 0,8 micrometres. The tapped hole has a 6H metric coarse thread with a counterbore and a 120 degree countersink at its mouth, and a slight flat or small groove along the pin may vent the trapped air. The two types share one dimension table and differ only at the plain end, which has a 15 degree lead c: type A has a crowned end with a radius equal to the diameter and is made of through hardened steel, 550 HV30 to 650 HV30, or of martensitic stainless steel grade C1, hardened and tempered to 460 HV30 to 560 HV30; type B has a flat end and is made of case hardened steel with a surface hardness of 600 HV1 to 700 HV1. Covers nominal diameters from 6 to 50 mm with threads M4 to M24 and lengths from 16 to 200 mm.

DIN 7979 - Parallel pins with internal thread

Withdrawn German standard for parallel pins with internal thread, the predecessor of ISO 8733 and ISO 8735 with a wider range, up to d 80 mm and M42. An extractor screw or a slide hammer in the tapped hole of one end pulls the pin out. The pin is a ground cylinder toleranced m6; the tapped end has a short chamfer and a counterbore with a 120 degree countersink that protects the thread. The two forms differ at the plain end: form C is made of unhardened free-cutting steel 9SMnPb28K and has a 15 degree chamfer on that end, form D is hardened to 60 HRC ± 2 HRC and has a crowned end with a radius equal to the diameter and a short 15 degree lead. Covers nominal diameters from 6 to 80 mm with threads M4 to M42 and lengths from 16 to 200 mm. The 1977 edition was replaced by DIN EN 28733 and DIN EN 28735 in 1992 and today by DIN EN ISO 8733 for the unhardened pin and DIN EN ISO 8735 for the hardened pin.
