強度区分12.9の六角穴付き段付きねじで、寸法は公差f9に研削されたねじ部より太い段部で決まり、ねじで寸法が決まる ISO 4762 のボルトとは異なります。このねじは位置決めピンと締結部品を兼ねます。段部が穴の中で回ってせん断荷重を受け持ち、その下にある段部より一回り細いねじ部は締結を締め付けるだけです。リンクやレバーの支点、ストリッパプレートの案内、治具や金型の可動部はこの段部で支えられます。呼びは規格の表示どおり ds × l の組み合わせです。段部の径がねじ全体を決めます。すなわち、段部6,5 mmのM5から段部25 mmのM20までのねじ、頭部径dk、頭部高さk、対辺s、六角穴の深さt、ねじ長さbであり、段部の長さは、そのねじがどれだけ厚い部品を案内できるかを示します。ねじ長さは円筒頭のねじのように長さに従いません。規格は段部の径ごとにねじ長さを定めています。ねじ部は座った段部を押さえるだけだからです。段部の径は6,5〜25 mm、段部の長さは10〜120 mmを対象とし、最小の二つの段部は40 mmと50 mmで終わります。頭部は平頭でもローレット付きでもよく、表が頭部径を二つ示す理由はそれだけです。段部の長さの公差は呼び寸法から呼び寸法+0,25 mmまでです。形状のため引張試験はできませんが、区分12.9のその他すべての要求を満たします。1983年の初版が現在も有効です。
