ISO 7040 - Prevailing torque hexagon regular nuts (with non-metallic insert), product grades A and B

Prevailing torque hexagon regular nuts with a non-metallic insert, widely known as nylon insert lock nuts, product grade A for threads up to and including M16 and product grade B above. The metal body is the regular ISO 4032 nut: for a given diameter the hexagon body is identical, and a polyamide ring held in the top of the nut grips the bolt thread and resists loosening under vibration. The overall height is therefore greater than that of a plain nut of the same size. The insert limits the service temperature and the nuts are not intended for repeated reuse. Covers metric coarse pitch from M3 to M39; M3 and M4 are specified in a normative annex, and M7, M14, M18, M22, M27, M33 and M39 are non-preferred threads.
